Tanya's Story
One human being to another.
As a trauma informed therapist you may find me to be different from other mental health professionals. I work collaboratively with my clients, helping them learn to experience their lives and relationships to the fullest. Whether you are seeking support with a specific issue like anxiety or childhood trauma, or if you are struggling with a mental health challenge that is harder to name, I can help. Sometimes you may not even know how to identify what you are going through, I can help with that too.
I truly care for all of my clients, and work diligently to help you find the answers you seek. I hope to have the chance to accompany you on your journey to your best self.

But that's not where it all started...read on to learn more about me, the real Tanya.
My story started in trauma.

It was not an easy way to grow up. But, I was convinced for most of my life that I was fine. This experience made me mature quickly. I became independent and helpful, yet determined to never need or ask for help. I have learned though, that these character traits are common in people who have experienced trauma as children and are generally viewed as strengths and things to be proud about.
What I didn’t realize was that my entire way of looking at the world and others was from a place of threat. This wasn't a conscious way of thinking, I honestly didn't even know I was doing it or that my trauma had impacted my thoughts, until I started my own therapy journey. It is through this journey that I discovered it is possible not to be afraid all of the time, to be able to relax and just “be”, to actually enjoy life, build good relationships, and trust others.

After years of therapy that brought clarity, self-awareness, and self-confidence, it finally occurred to me that maybe I could help others struggling with similar issues, and maybe even save them some time by sharing what I have learned.

That's what makes me different. I am a trauma-informed therapist helping others who have experienced trauma, or addiction, or other forms of mental health that has impacted their lives. I am relatable and will speak to you openly and honestly with real life examples, background, and history.
